Laura can create and work with you on colours and designs, using collagraphy and linocut to produce lampshades and cushions that fit perfectly into room matching your interior décor. She has a selection of lamp bases in a variety of woods that have been carefully sourced and handpicked as locally as possible by Laura. These woods include Ash, Cherry, Oak, 250 year old Pine and spalted beech.

Laura designs the bases then hands them over to a talented wood turner based in the heart of the Purbecks.

If you had a particular idea in mind for a lamp base, she can work with you and create bespoke designs for the wood turner, to match your shade.

The process of placing a bespoke design

Laura can show you examples of previous work and create drawings if necessary. Working with you to match existing colours, procuring paint samples if necessary, she has access to most retailers, including Farrow and Ball, Laura Ashley, John Lewis and Dulux.

The design proposal will be put forward, upon formal written agreement to the proposal and a 25% deposit. She will go ahead and build custom printing plates; these can take 2-7 days depending on size and design.

Once these have been finished she will print colour samples and send them via royal mail for your approval. Alongside the samples there will be a pre addressed stamp envelope for you to send the selected sample back, it is important that is sent back, so that Laura can colour match as near as possible to the preferred sample. Due to nature of the technique it is very difficult to get the colour exactly the same every time, especially without a reference point as the inks are hand mixed.

Once the sample is received Laura will print the fabrics, the fabrics can take 7-10 days to dry fully. These are then processed ready for Laura to hand making into the Lampshade. The cushions are hand sewn by a local seamstress.

The whole process can take between 3-6 weeks, depending on how large the order is and other commitments at the time.

The lamp bases can be made during this process as they take up to 7 days to be made depending on design and stock levels.

The commission can be sent via 24 hour courier, or delivery within 20 miles of BH20 postcode, or if hand collection is preferred from Laura’s Studio in Furzebrook, Wareham, Dorset.

Pricing of lampshades can vary from £70-£250, these can be made to fit a table or ceiling. These are available in 15cm, 20cm, 25cm, 30cm, 35cm, 40cm, 45cm, 50, cm, 55cm and 60cm. Height is custom although Laura can advise.

Pricing of floor lamps can vary from £190-£450, these are currently available in diameters of 15cm, 20cm, 25cm, 30cm and 35cm, height is custom although Laura can advise. These come with the base included; you will be given a selection of wooden bases to choose from.

Table Lamp bases prices vary from between £81-£250, these are hand turned in the Purbecks, from your choice of wood, either be from Laura’s existing stock or custom made to your specifications.
